Discover Francesinhas Al Forno da Baixa, a restaurant in the city center of Porto where you can taste francesinhas, one of the city's traditional dishes.
FRANCESINHAS AL OVEN DA BAIXA
Located in the historic center of the city, the restaurant Francesinhas Al Forno da Baixa offers several Portuguese and traditional specialties. The restaurant is known for our great local dishes and diverse regional dishes. Francesinhas Al Forno da Baixa offers 20 varieties of Francesinhas, including traditional, puff pastry and also vegan versions, including desserts!

Francesinha is a traditional dish of Porto cuisine. It was created by Portuguese people who were inspired by the French sandwich Croque Monsieur, more popularly known as a hot mix, to create something innovative. Usually, francesinha is made with bread, ham, sausage, steak or roast beef, all topped with melted cheese, surrounded by a special sauce of tomato, beer and piri-piri pepper. It is most often served with a fried egg on top and fries to dip into the sauce.

The restaurant's atmosphere is very relaxed, with stone walls, a wall decorated with several fun phrases, as well as wooden tables and chairs. The restaurant is also a good option to save on your data plan, as it has free wifi.

MENU OF FRANCESINHAS AL FORNO DA BAIXA
The menu at the Francesinhas Al Forno da Baixa restaurant has many options, including starters, salads, hot dogs, pizzas and, of course, francesinhas, the restaurant's flagship. In addition to the traditional menu, there is also a super complete vegan menu with hot dogs with vegetable sausages, tofu francesinhas, seitan, tempeh and pizzas with vegetable cheeses. The vegan menu even features desserts (berry cheesecake, chocolate mousse, baked apple, and pineapple).

FRANCESINHAS AL FORNO DA BAIXA: OUR EXPERIENCE
The Restaurant Francesinhas Al Forno da Baixa is on the street of the hotel where we stayed, the Hotel One Shot Allies Goldsmith 12. We visited the place during lunch precisely to taste the famous francesinhas in Porto. We are always very happy when we find restaurants with vegan options and Francesinhas Al Forno da Baixa deserves to be congratulated for the amount of vegan dishes offered on the menu. You can see that they really made an effort to be inclusive and that makes us very happy.

A dish of francesinha accompanied by fries is a very well served meal. I asked to Francesinha from Seitan (gluten meat) that came as smoked sausage, tomato, peppers and cheese.

Paul asked French Tofu, with smoked tofu and bacon, tomato, fresh mushrooms and cheese. It was a very different experience, full of flavors. I would just reduce the pepper a little, but Paulo liked it a lot.

We ask to share a Red berry cheesecake which came in a super charming glass jar and was very tasty too.
