Discover Ronda Locatelli, an Italian restaurant located in the iconic Hotel Atlantis, The Palm, in Dubai, which has a democratic and varied menu.
THE RESTAURANT RONDA LOCATELLI
Ronda Locatelli Restaurant serves typical Italian cuisine with a special touch from Michelin-starred chef Giorgio Locatelli. It is located in the luxurious 5 star hotel Atlantis, The Palm, located in Palm Jumeirah, the most incredible artificial archipelago in the city and full of attractions. The restaurant's idea is to offer quality food in a relaxed atmosphere, including delicious antipasti, pizza and fresh pasta. The menu is very democratic and full of options that include vegan and gluten-free alternatives. The restaurant has a beautiful lounge with warm decor, an outdoor patio for outdoor dining and a playground for children. In this way, the restaurant seeks to be an excellent option for couples, friends and families.
RONDA LOCATELLI VEGAN MENU
Ronda Locatelli calls itself the restaurant with the “Dubai's biggest vegan menu“. According to them, the restaurant's menu offers about 40 vegan dishes that include pizza, pasta, and desserts, all made with great care and full of flavor. And it was exactly for this reason that we decided to include the restaurant in our gastronomic itinerary in Dubai. Trying a vegan menu in a restaurant with a famous chef seemed like an excellent choice!
OUR EXPERIENCE AT RONDA LOCATELLI
We didn't stay at the Atlantis hotel, The Palm, but we went to the complex where the hotel is located to see the restaurant. We left the car at the valet (free of charge) and entered the Atlantis Mall, where there are several shops and varied restaurants. Immediately when we entered, that environment reminded me of hotels in Las Vegasin the US, such as the Caesar Palace, The Venetian and Bellagio. We quickly found the entrance to Ronda Locatelli, practically next to the famous Lost of Chambers Aquarium.
We had made reservations to be seated on the outside patio, and as soon as we arrived, we were escorted there. The night in Dubai tends to get colder during the winter, but there were several heaters that kept us warm enough. The view from there is to the The Pointe, which also offers gastronomic, entertainment and leisure options, such as The Palm Fountain, on the opposite side of the bay where the hotel is located Atlantis, The Palm.
We were promptly attended to by an extremely attentive and polite employee who offered us a basket of breads with complimentary imported olive oil. For starters, we decided to share a “Focacia all'aglio”, a focaccia with garlic and vegan cheese. The dough was super soft and flavorful.
Then came our dishes: “Casarecce alla trapanese”, a twisted pasta with cherry tomatoes, black olives, capers, mint and almonds and the "Vegetarian Pizza", a vegan cheese, zucchini, eggplant and onion.
OUR OPINION ABOUT RONDA LOCATELLI'S FOOD
And now our confession: we found Ronda Locatelli's food disappointing. We had expectations of eating tasty Italian dishes, well presented, as the restaurant is located in one of the most important 5-star hotels in Dubai and has a Michelin-starred professional as its chef. But what was delivered to us was below average food. We've been to much simpler and less famous places and ate much better. The volume of the food was in line with what I usually find in Italian restaurants around the world. The real problem was in the taste and texture of what we ate. I love al dente pasta, but the one served was “massuda”, needing more time in the water. The sauce was ok, nothing impressive. The pizza also fell short of expectations, delivering nothing memorable. It was not surprising neither in the dough nor in the filling.
In summary, the restaurant is very beautiful, the service is great, but we had one of the most expensive meals during the trip in this restaurant and the food left a lot to be desired. I don't know if we were unlucky with our choices or exceptionally that day the cuisine was not inspired. The truth is that the experience was far below our expectations and we would hardly go back there.
