CARLUCCIO'S RESTAURANTS NETWORK
The history of Carluccio's restaurant chain began in 1991 when founder Antonio Carluccio opened a small market in London, looking to bring the best of Italian food to the English. In 1999, the first Carluccio's Caffè opened, an authentic Italian restaurant with the aim of providing high quality Italian food at good prices and with informal service. The Italian restaurant chain Carluccio's has over 30 locations across the UK and Ireland and a business of franchise in the Middle East, which includes 3 units in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, and other 2 units in Doha, capital of Qatar.
CARLUCCIO'S DUBAI MALL
We already knew Carluccio's from the time we lived in London, so finding him in Dubai was a nice surprise. Carluccio's Dubai Mall restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, offering a wide range of classic and fresh Italian food.
Many of Ingredients are sourced directly from Italy. The restaurant also caters for vegetarians and vegans with a special menu with several options. The restaurant's menu also includes gluten-free options.
OUR EXPERIENCE AT CARLUCCIO'S DUBAI MALL
We were looking for a place to eat after visiting the top of the Burj Khalifa, but it couldn't be anywhere. Even though the Dubai Mall has several places to have lunch, we wanted it to be a place where we could enjoy the sunny day in Dubai, seeing the dancing fountains and, of course, enjoying good Italian food without any animal origin. And Carluccio's Dubai Mall is located exactly on the same floor as the Dubai Fountains, the super famous dancing fountains that are in front of the Dubai Mall and the Burj Khalifa.
The restaurant starts inside the mall and opens to an area in front of the fountains. We sat at a table directly in front of the fountains and, while having lunch, we had the pleasure of watching them in action to the rhythm of lively music, providing an even more interesting atmosphere.
We ordered one plate each and one more. “Mix Salad”, a salad of green leaves to share. I chose the “Penne Giardiniera”, a giant penne (more like a rigatoni) with zucchini, garlic and chili. Unfortunately, I was told by the waiter that the spinach balls – which would accompany the dish – had cheese of animal origin, so I ended up ordering without. Paul asked for “Vegetable Risotto”, a risotto with asparagus, peas, fava beans, onions, garlic, chili and lemon oil.
