The Stinking Rose – A Garlic Restaurant It is a great option for those looking for a cool and different place to taste gastronomic delights. A peculiarity of this restaurant is that it specializes in dishes whose main seasoning is garlic! The restaurant has two locations in California, one in San Francisco and one in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles. We were at the San Francisco unit and told what it means to be a “garlic restaurant”.

THE STINKING ROSE, THE GARLIC RESTAURANT

It may seem strange, but literally, The Stinking Rose means “The Stinking Rose”! The name is derived from how the ancient Romans referred to garlic. The restaurant's entire menu is geared towards this peculiar spice with a strong and very characteristic scent. The Stinking Rose Restaurant it's always crowded and it is more than recommended to make an advance reservation.

The entire restaurant is decorated with countless strings of garlic hanging from the ceiling! According to the restaurant itself, there is the largest garlic braid in the world! There are colorful murals depicting the history of the condiment. There is a lounge with many tables and chairs and also more private areas that look like little cabins.

On the menu is the delicious Bagna Calda, a combination of oven-roasted garlic cloves with extra virgin olive oil, butter and anchovies with a delicious starter bread. There are also salads, soups, mashed potatoes, meats (beef, chicken, giant crab, ribs, lamb, fish, pork) pasta, pizza…all seasoned, with garlic, of course! Whoever thinks it stops there, can't imagine that for dessert, a (amazing!!!) garlic ice cream with caramel sauce is served!

OUR EXPERIENCE AT THE STINKING ROSE

We went to San Francisco's The Stinking Rose restaurant for dinner with our friends on a Saturday night. We ordered the Bagna Calda as a starter and a delicious Zinfandel wine to accompany dinner.

Paulo went crazy when he saw the s ribs (ribs) on the menu and tried to order one well rare. The dish is huge and the rib is juicy and extremely tender! It is worth noting that although the restaurant specializes in garlic, nothing is in excess. The seasoning is smooth and delicious and, even with all the strong flavor of the condiment, there is no exaggeration in the preparation of the dishes.

Ana had pasta, a gnocchi with gorgonzola and asparagus and chopped chestnuts that was delicious!

Garlic ice cream was left for a next opportunity because we were already quite satisfied after the meal. Who has tried it, leave your comment on what you think and if it's worth it!
