Café Gratitude is a small chain of restaurants that aims to serve gastronomic options prepared with organic and plant-based (vegan) ingredients. Offering gourmet options, the restaurants support causes related to the environment and sustainability. The network seeks to select the best organic ingredients, support local farmers by encouraging sustainable agriculture with the use of ecologically correct products. According to the official website, Café Gratitude practices its business through a term it called “Sacred Commerce”, in which inspired service, honest and transparent communication and gratitude for the richness of life are provided.
The chain's history began in 2004, with the first locations opened in the San Francisco area, including Berkeley, San Rafael, Headsburg, Oakland, Cupertino and the seaside town of Holy Cross. However, all 8 units of the group located in the Bay Area closed in 2011. Currently, the chain is concentrated in Southern California, with 5 units in Los Angeles and surroundings and 1 unit in the city of San Diego. There is also a Mexican restaurant unit Thanks Mother in Hollywood and other in San Francisco.

All units in the chain are open serving dishes all day, from breakfast to dinner. The menu is super fun, and the name of the dishes is changed to happy words, which indicate how you are feeling. When asking, you speak I am… (and I am), followed by what you want. A muffin, for example, you should say “I am Beautiful”. For a Summer Grain Salad, you should say “I am Gracious” (thankful). As for a vegan cheese Panini with eggplant, how about saying “I am awesome” (amazing). Nice, isn't it?
Of the six units in California, we have already visited two: the Larchmont Blvd, in Hollywood, and that of Venice. See below a selection of delicious foods that are available at the restaurant. Remembering that 100% of everything served at Café Gratitude units is free from animal ingredients.
The menus vary from unit to unit, but you will always find delicious options for breakfast, lunch/dinner, desserts, happy hour and others. There are also services delivery and food served to events.
