Discover Orteá Vegan Collective, a wonderful vegan restaurant with great food and a pleasant atmosphere in Lisbon, Portugal.
ORTEÁ VEGAN COLLECTIVE
Inaugurated in 2018 by Catarina Gonçalves, the same owner of Restaurante Ao26, in Chiado (Read more: Ao 26: Vegan restaurant in the center of Lisbon), Orteá Vegan Collection is a restaurant focused on unprocessed vegan food that manufactures most of the items in an artisanal way in its kitchen. Formerly called “O Botanista”, the name Orteá is a reference to a large vegetable garden, where various ideas can be sown, constantly bringing new ideas and innovations.

Considered one of the best vegan restaurants in Lisbon (perhaps the best), Orteá offers a selection of seasonal dishes delicious adapted to the changing seasons, which include tasty starters, elaborate bruschetta, pasta with special sauces, a daily selection of cakes and desserts, as well as a good range of non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages.

The restaurant is located in a building with glass walls, tables in the outdoor area and a relaxing indoor lounge with wooden tables and chairs, beautiful decor and many plants that provide an even more interesting atmosphere, giving it an air of a tropical forest. Everything there seems to fit perfectly, every detail of the decor, every little space in the restaurant.

GROCERY STORE, CHEESE STORE AND KOMBUCHA WORKSHOP
The restaurant is located near Cais do Sodré and has a super cozy space. When changing its name, the place was also redesigned into a bistro, incorporated on the upper floor to combine a grocery store called Pistachio, a artisanal cheese called Eva (created by the owner) and a kombucha workshop (a fermented drink) from the brand Era produced in an artisanal way in Orteá.

OUR EXPERIENCE AT ORTEÁ VEGAN COLLECTIVE
we made a online booking to guarantee a nice table to celebrate our 14th wedding anniversary. We went for dinner, not in a hurry, enjoying every second of the experience. We ended up not taking many pictures precisely because we wanted to enjoy the moment, observe every detail, without having to record everything.

We were attended by extremely polite and helpful staff who treated us with all affection. We started by ordering a bottle of organic red wine from Quinta da Caldeirinha, indicated by one of the employees. To start we ask for the input Nude by Eva, a selection of locally produced artisanal cheeses with nuts and breads. The portion was extremely well served and it was divine!

The main course was on account of the refined beautiful ciao, a homemade papardele with mushroom sauce in red wine and smoked hazelnuts. An elaborate and incredibly tasty dish!

To end our incredible night, we shared a delicious dessert, the Red Fruit Frying Pan, a baked red fruit crumble with homemade vanilla ice cream.

After having a fantastic night, we left the restaurant dying to come back and try other dishes! The restaurant is amazing, with a beautiful atmosphere, impeccable service and haute cuisine dishes. We're sure we'll be back more often because the experience was phenomenal!
