SANTA BARBARA BEACH RESORT IN CURAÇAO
O Santa Barbara Beach & Golf Resort is a 5 star hotel located in the south of the Caribbean island of Curaçao, about 25 minutes from Willemstad, the capital. The hotel is located on a beautiful peninsula close to the Caribbean Sea and Spanish Water Bay, offering beautiful views of the clear waters of the Caribbean.
The hotel is huge, having 2 pools outdoors, one golf course, 4 tennis courts, one marina, gym, restaurants and a full spa. As it is located in a quieter location, the resort is very popular for weddings, which is why we stayed there (see more about our experience below).
The hotel also works with rental kayaks and bicycles to explore the island's natural beauties. The beach is close to the hotel, has white sand and extends for 450 meters. It is a great option to relax, watching the passing of sailboats and yachts.

RESTAURANTS AT SANTA BARBARA RESORT
- MEDIUM: Offers breakfast, lunch and dinner in a refined setting overlooking the Caribbean Sea. The restaurant prepares hot and cold appetizers, soups, salads, pastas, risottos, meats, hamburgers and pizzas in a wood-fired oven. There are several Mediterranean cuisine options available on the menu.
- SHORE: The Shore is a restaurant that offers an exquisite experience of Caribbean cuisine with al fresco dining. The restaurant serves fine wines, cocktails, delicious starters, and varied meat dishes. Open from Wednesday to Monday from 18:00 to 2:00.
- SPLASH: This is the hotel's poolside bar & grill, which serves cold drinks and snacks like fish tacos, nachos and delicious burgers. Open daily from 11 am to 9 pm.
- THE GREAT ROOM: This is a restaurant with an Asian-inspired menu and is located in an area where you can watch the sunset while having a delicious drink.

There is more 2 restaurants located in the vicinity of the hotel, but operating independently.
- BELLA ITALY: This is a small, independently operated Café offering espressos, coffee-based drinks, homemade pizzas and over 50 flavors of ice cream.
- MOUTH 19: Located close to the Marina and the Old Quarry Golf Course, Boca 19 is a casual bar & grill offering a diverse menu that includes a selection of fresh seafood, steaks and burgers. It is a relaxed place to relax and have a drink outside during the sunset.
OUR EXPERIENCE AT SANTA BARBARA RESORT
We stayed at Santa Barbara Beach & Golf Resort because it was in this hotel that the wedding of a friend of ours from Brazil that we hadn't seen for a few years took place! It was a good opportunity to meet not only our friend, but other people from Canada, Chile and the United States who were part of our lives during the period when we studied and lived in Stanford University, in Silicon Valley.

So, we divided our trip into 2 parts. As the hotel is located in the south of the island of Curaçao, we took the opportunity to enjoy some nearby beaches and get to know the islet of Klein Curaçao, one of the coolest tours to do when you are there. For the other half of the trip, we switched to a hotel further north (Oasis Coral Estate Resort) to enjoy the beaches in that region. The decision was right, because we reduced the travel time between the hotel and the attractions visited.
POOLS AND BEACH
The hotel is very beautiful, with a very interesting decoration. The rooms are spacious, have very comfortable beds and pillows and have a balcony with chairs to relax while enjoying the view. In addition to the two pools big ones, in front of the hotel, there is a small beach, with sun loungers. Both are interesting options to relax and enjoy a delicious cocktail served at the bar located by the pool. In front of the beach, there is a marina, from where boat trips, jet skis, among others, depart.
RESTAURANTS
We know all the restaurants in the hotel, except the shore, due to the lack of options for dishes without ingredients of animal origin. This is the most expensive restaurant on the resort. Breakfast is served in the measure and you can choose between the all-you-can-eat buffet option that has several delicious options or, if you prefer, order breads, fruits, wraps and other a la carte options (because we are vegans, it was more worth it for us). For lunch and dinner, the measure serves a varied menu of mediterranean dishes. O mouth 19 is great for drinks and serves some delicious dishes (Paulo had the Thai Red Curry and I had a penne with fresh tomato sauce) and the Bella Italia It's a good choice for simpler dishes and pizzas.
HOTEL STRUCTURE
We took a half hour to walk around and get to know more about the structure of the hotel. There is a giant chess game, beautiful gardens, thatched-roof huts where massages offered by the spa are given. We wondered how delicious it would be to enjoy a massage overlooking the sea! There is a very beautiful gym, with a glass wall overlooking the resort, as well as varied daily activities both during the day and at night, such as yoga, table tennis championship, live music in the restaurants, among others.
OUR FRIEND'S MARRIAGE
Our friend's wedding was held in an area on the sand, located behind the pools, facing the sea. The ceremony was simple, but very moving (they read the vows and brought tears to those present). Leaving there, we went to the area where there is a small pavilion for dinner. We were the only vegans and our friend asked the hotel to serve us two special dishes while the other guests enjoyed the buffet. After dinner, lots of music to dance to. The activities had to be closed at 23:00 so as not to disturb the other hotel guests.
The hotel is an excellent accommodation option for those looking for comfort and convenience. It is great for families, due to the infrastructure, several gastronomic options and activities. The resort is perfect for those who want to relax and spend most of their trip on its premises. Some friends of ours didn't rent a car and spent every day there. It's not our favorite type of trip (we love walking around the city center and learning about the local culture), but, as we were initially going to a wedding, 3 days were dedicated to staying exclusively inside the resort, enjoying its attractions. and catching up with friends. The only disadvantage of the Santa Barbara Resort is that, as it is located in the south of the island, the travel time to discover beaches and other attractions in Curaçao is a little time consuming.
